  • About three years ago.

About three years ago – in fact, almost exactly three years ago, based on the classes I was taking and based on the elections that were happening – I noticed that my abs were lopsided.

  • Take a guess.

Take a guess why I’m back. By now, you’re probably sensing a pattern (and if you’re not, at this point that’s honestly on you).

  • Anticipating the unpredictable.

As with most weeks, something could happen or nothing could happen.

  • Pretty good stuff.

In the words of Ice Cube, today was a good day. I went on a phenomenal run (both long and fast), and I’m feeling ready for a long-ish, fast-ish run tomorrow too.

  • I spoke a little too soon.

Well, today was a step back. Scratch that, it was a step forward, but downhill.

  • Return of ya boy.

The quality of life of yours has improved dramatically over the past few days!

  • An adjusted approach.

Of late, this blog has been a (fairly well-earned) pity party for yours truly. That must be a drag to read. To hopefully move toward a more audience-friendly blog, we herein announce an adjustment in strategy.

  • Time helps most wounds.

I’m feeling much better. This weekend was good (well, not good by most definitions, but semi-restorative or something), and I’m ready, or nearly ready, to get back to things.

  • Maybe sleep is good.

Not that this is a competition, but today was indisputably better than yesterday.

  • Time marches on.

It’s not clear what today was. Is it clear what any day is, though?

  • Compounded interest.

When my other grandma died, I remember a part of my anguish came from the fact that it felt like it’s always me.

  • Free Slurpees.

Today was free Slurpee day at 7-Eleven (since the date was, you know, 7/11). Naturally, I cashed in.

  • Day two.

In all honesty, I think Day Two’s better than Day One (this time, anyway).

  • Anotha one.

Well, more bad news – but don’t worry about me; I’ll be fine.

  • A note to self and readers.

    Don’t think too hard, bro.

  • Filled with nervous.

I’m filled with nervous energy right now, and I’m not quite sure why. (Don’t worry about me – it’ll be fine.)

  • PBJ is (gender-neutral) king.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are great. I eat an unreasonable amount of them, for several reasons.

  • First day back: an update.

As a general update, things have been going well – perhaps even, dare I say, quite well!

  • Unsustainability.

I guess because I was feeling better I decided to behave unsustainably.

  • The irony of advice-giving.

There’s an interesting disconnect between myself as I am and the self I could strive harder to be.

  • What am I doing.

Bro, what am I doing, it is literally 3 a.m. and I am awake and doing nothing I just need to go to sleep. Goodnight!

  • Another day.

Another day of general malaise, but I’m feeling better.

  • A funny hyperbole.

That would’ve been tragic, I think to myself as I consider the frightening world of moments prior in which, for a minute-and-a-half, I don’t know the location of my much-needed shaver.

  • We're back at it.

The past few weeks have offered a series of whiplash-inducing twists in fortune and happiness. Not really sure where I am right now.

  • Man, I'm really excited!

    Man, I’m actually really excited!

  • Things were looking tough, but I kept the faith.

Things were looking kinda tough, but then I got some very exciting news today.

  • Goals for 2022.

Someone could linkage attack this so hard, but it’s whatever. Here are my (somewhat late, but relatively early) goals for the year.

  • An update on yesterday.

    I was unfairly tired yesterday.

  • Back to running.

I went for one of my best runs in a while today.

  • Some complaints.

I have two things to complain about.

  • A consideration of a new writing style.

Good news: I have no more stomach ache, and I didn’t even throw up.

  • Uh-oh! I have a stomach ache.

    See title.

  • On drill music.

Over the past year-and-a-half, drill music has gone from constituting approximately none of my music-listening to constituting the majority of my music-listening.

  • Test post!

This post is just a test post.

  • I saw an eclipse!

I saw a solar eclipse today (albeit a partial one)!

  • Toothpaste: an update.

As an update, I found more toothpaste in my hair this morning.

  • I wasn't going to post, but...

… here we are. I’ll keep this short.

  • An eerie run (and other fun).

After a brief (or non-brief – you be the judge) hiatus, I’m back, baby!

  • Checkin' boxes.

For some reason, posts this week are feeling like they’re just another box to check.

  • I was tricked!

I’ve felt sleepy for the past few days – or so I thought.

  • Things didn't go according to plan.

I had a plan for today, but things did not go according to it.

  • Another relaxed day.

Today was another relaxed day. I did not do much. I read, I went for a walk with my family, I ran.

  • Not much happened today.

The fact that not much happened today was by design.

  • A supernatural event.

I know I said I wouldn’t write about running today, but I have to!

  • A short post for a longer day.

Despite the title of this post, today was not a day with more hours, or even with more perceived hours. I was not awake longer than ordinary, and I did not suffer more than usual.

  • After a good run, some thoughts on running.

Today, I had a good run.

  • Today's journey.

In contrast with the previous 14 months, this week has involved significant travel.

  • Who am I?

To answer briefly, I’m not Jean Valjean, a.k.a. 24601.

  • It's a doughnut!

Due to my possession of a vaccine card, today I went to Krispy Kreme. Due to my possession of a vaccine, tomorrow I will see my cousin.

  • Verdict: I was tired.

After sleeping 12+ hours, I can now conclude that I was, in fact, tired.

  • A trip and sleeping.

Today was a great day for a trip.

  • A reflection on grading.

Just finished grading, possibly/hopefully for the last time this semester!

  • What is grading?

Grading is fun; it is more fun when you know the answers, and better still when you understand them.

  • Helpful notes for using Jekyll.

This post will including an ever-updating list of helpful Jekyll- and markdown-related notes.

  • First post.

This post is a test post. Let’s see how it works out.

  • Welcome to Jekyll!

You’ll find this post in your _posts directory. Go ahead and edit it and re-build the site to see your changes. You can rebuild the site in many different ways, but the most common way is to run jekyll serve, which launches a web server and auto-regenerates your site when a file is updated.
